About the Item
The afternoon light is hypnotic on this summer day with barely a gentle wind to disrupt the serenity save for the reflections from the sandpipers frolicking ever so gently. The tender motions captured in this soft contemporary marine landscape nearly causes you to slip off into a trance of peace and tranquility amidst the whispers of delightful values of blues in this 48x24 seascape framed in a deep custom floater frame with champagne silver face. Born in Taiwan, China, artist Chieh-Nie Cherng began drawing as a child, attending Taiwan's leading art school, Taiwan National Academy of Fine Arts, under the tutelage of distinguished Chinese artist Yushuan Shao. Cherng graduated magna cum laude from Montclair State College after relocating to the USA in 1981. Best known for her delicate florals, birds and stilllifes in watercolor, Cherng has turned towards oil painting in recent years, applying the same sensitivity as to form, color and light as in her watercolor works, gaining her immediate attention and collectors. Cherng has shown her work in numerous juried shows and prestigious galleries in the the United States as well as overseas.
