A Southern California landscape artist, Clyde Eugene Scott was born in Bedford, Iowa and headed West in 1910, having studied in Boston with Richard Andrews and Charles Heil at the Boston Museum School and with E. He established his studio near Los Angeles at Chatsworth where landscape was often filmed for western movies. He took extensive painting trips into Arizona and Utah and throughout California and became active in the California Art Club, plein-air landscape painters as well as in arts organizations in Laguna Beach and Santa Monica and the Painters and Sculptors of Los Angeles, which he served as President from 1938 to 1940.
