This artwork "Landscape with Barn and Horse" c.1985 is an acrylic painting on canvas by noted California artist, Elmer Frederick Ekeroth, American, 1918-1993. It is signed at the lower right corner by the artist. The canvas size is 18 x 24 inches, framed is 22.75 x 28.75 inches. it is framed in original wooden rustic brown frame, with linen liner. It is in very good condition.
About the artist.
Elmer Fredrick Ekeroth was born in Malden, Massachusetts on August 30, 1918. He specialized in impressionist landscapes, seascapes, and still life works. Ekeroth studied at the Vesper George School in Boston, School of Practical Art in Boston, and the Cambridge Center Art School in Cambridge, Mass.
Ekeroth was a founding member, and first President of the Pacific Grove Art Association in 1967 (which later became the Central Coast Art Association). He also served on the first Board of Directors for the Oakland Art Association.
He exhibited his works widely in California, including the Oakland Art Association, Alameda County Fair, Monterey County Fair, Pacific Grove Art Association, Pacific Grove Art Center, Central Coast Art Association, and many other shows on the Monterey Peninsula.
A prominent figure for many years on the Monterey Peninsula, Ekeroth died in Monterey on October 11, 1993.
