About the Item
In this piece, the artist depicts his subject in a whimsical and impressionistic way, capturing the Cafés of the busy streets from the 20th Century with much life. In the distance we see Montmartre, it is primarily known for its artistic history, for the white-domed Basilica of the Sacré-Cœur on its summit. The artist mostly used oil with a pallet knife, with impasto paint, and then by using subtle brush strokes with a wide color pallet, a beautiful rendition of the street with figures is accomplished. The artist was truly a master of capturing the magic of Paris in all of its glory throughout the seasons. This piece is executed with much depth, yet dramatically evoking an emotion of wonder and beauty. This painting is signed by the artist lower left and is painted oil on canvas and it comes housed in a wood frame with hanging wire on verso ready to be displayed.
