About the Item
Oil on card view of the Loire valley in France and one of its islands by Jacques Buecher. The painting is signed and titled to the back of the board.
A very charming view of this iconic part of France. A small red boat is tied up against the river bank, the water swirling beneath, to the left a stark tree and beyond the lush green countryside and hills all under a blue sky. Buecher has used blocks of colour in a colourfield technique to give the impression of scale and distance, greens, ochres outlined in black and as with many great artists he has added a touch of red, to the end of the boat, to lift and animate the whole composition.
