Charming mid-century oil painting by noted California artist Jon Blanchette (1908–1987), titled "Barns in Soquel." This original, signed work is painted on canvas board and captures a peaceful rural scene with classic barns and outbuildings nestled among towering trees in the rolling California landscape. He studied at the Pittsburgh Art Institute before moving to Los Angeles in 1932, where he worked as a commercial artist for Fox Studios. In 1948, Blanchette relocated to Santa Cruz, California, where he dedicated himself to painting full-time while also teaching private art lessons. A member of the Santa Cruz Art League and Marin County Artists, Blanchette is best known for his vibrant oil paintings depicting coastal and rural scenes of Northern California, including Santa Cruz, Mendocino, Monterey, Watsonville, and Aptos.
