About the Item
Josh George's (US based) "Limoux" is an original, handmade mixed media painting that depicts a landscape of a vineyard in Limoux, France.
About the Artist:
Josh George is a contemporary realist painter, with an emphasis on draftsmanship and an unconventional mixed- media approach. He has enjoyed a successful gallery career for 20 years, with representation in New York City and other markets. His art career also includes fourteen years’ experience teaching painters, illustrators, and designers at Virginia Commonwealth University and Pratt Institute and as a guest lecturer for several degree-granting arts institutions. Though primarily a contemporary realist painter, his work hints at the surreal and incorporates an expressive palette. Using an aggressive collage sensibility, he creates cityscapes, architectural portraits, and figurative snapshots of everyday life in the American city. He aims to capture the rich texture of these places and moments—the humor, drama, despair, and surprising beauty. Along with narrative and conceptual content, technical mastery and innovating materials drives his work. George has mounted 43 solo exhibitions and 85 group shows with commercial galleries in New York City, Boston, Scottsdale, Kansas City, Richmond, Raleigh, Milan, Italy and other markets, and his work has been featured in the Aqua Art Fair and Scope Art Fair in Miami for the last six years. His paintings are part of numerous private collections and the corporate collections of Sony Music, Nissan, Sheraton, Warner Brothers, Dominion Energy, Altria, and Capital One.

Josh George
A native of Kansas City, Josh George completed his BFA at the Kansas City Art Institute (1997), followed by an influential session at The Illustration Academy. His exhibitions and publications span the globe and include Arte Verona in Italy, the Society of Illustrators in New York, and numerous others. George’s work revolves around a fascination with the urban landscape. Dense collage of minute pieces of paper ephemera and painterly technique contribute to a unique form of impressionism, wherein all the tiny parts serve not only the larger composition, but also the sense of energy and motion it contains. Inspired by the likes of Cassatt, Degas, and the Ashcan Artists, George offers snapshots of a contemporary American set of experiences, finding exuberance in fleeting moments of activity.

Grand-Brassac is situated in the Dordogne department and Nouvelle-Aquitaine region. It is part of newly released small works from V....Vaughan's collection of recent travels in and around France and Italy. V....Vaughan painted each of these on location "en plein air" It has an Impressionistic Style as seen in many of Virginia Vaughan's paintings.
V....Vaughan is know for her animal, Texas missions Italy, France and Gulf Coast paintings. . Also shown in photos are other paintings by in the "Small Works" collection. Photos were taken to show the detail of each painting.
Her paintings are part of the permanent collection of the Gadsen Museum of Art, the Bone Creek Museum of Agrarian Art and the Great Plains Art Museum as well as in countless private collections. In the fall 2023 she will teach a workshop at a castle in France, where artists will stay and enjoy the southern French food and scenes.
I paint because it’s the best way I know to communicate, study, and observe creative work that’s how Texas painter V…. Vaughan (the first initial stands for Virginia) describes her drive to create fine art. “It’s a calling,” she says of her life’s work, which has taken several twists and turns but has, nevertheless, led her down the path toward fulfillment.
A lifelong Texan, Vaughan grew up in the Austin area and today makes her home in Round Rock, a suburb of the capital city. As a child, she exhibited a love of making art and played the role of the creative one among the seven children in her family, eventually working for several of her siblings as a sign painter and designer. Her parents forever encouraged her to appreciate and mine her passion, instilling in her that it was not simply a passing fancy, but an innate gift. “It was always conveyed to me that this was a God-given talent,” she says. Somehow that made me feel like it was something I was supposed to do. It gave me permission to pursue it.
Vaughan attended college on an athletic scholarship, though she filled her schedule with art classes and subsequently secured an internship at an advertising agency. That introduction to the corporate world set her off in a new direction—she left school to parlay the summer job into a full-time position. She continued to work as a commercial artist for many years after that, winning several prestigious ADDY Awards and working on high-profile accounts for Samsung, the Lady Bird Johnson...
