Juan Gil y Gil (1900-1984) - Landscape with Spanish village - Oil on canvas
Oil measures 38x46 cm.
Frameless.
Painter. He began his artistic training in Paris, which he later continued at the Sant Jordi School in Barcelona, where he later became a teacher. Since 1924 he participated in various collectives, as well as in official competitions and contests, being awarded the Third Medal at the Barcelona National Exhibition in 1941, and the Second Medal at the 1944 exhibition. He celebrated his first solo show in 1925 at the Layetanas galleries, where he repeated a new exhibition in 1931, doing so later in many other Barcelona galleries. In 1975 he exhibited for the last time in the Gaudí room. He specialized in landscape and portraiture, and made numerous paintings and drawings on dance themes, in which his creative capacity and expressive power are evident. His works appear in the Museum of Modern Art of Barcelona and in the Theater Institute.
