In addition to his artistic endeavors, Tirén was a dedicated researcher of Sami music, particularly the traditional yoik. He documented and recorded many of these songs, preserving a vital aspect of Sami heritage. His pioneering work in using the phonograph for these recordings was instrumental in safeguarding these traditions for future generations. Tirén's talents were not confined to painting and music alone; he was also a skilled violin maker and a member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Music. His artistic legacy includes significant public works, such as altarpieces for churches in Jämtland and Sundsvall. Karl Tirén passed away on September 1, 1955, in Stockholm, but his diverse contributions to art, music, and cultural preservation continue to be celebrated.
