SUMMER ABSTRACTION Size: 65.5 x 65.5 cm (including frame) Oil on board A very atmospheric abstract coastal scape painting, executed in oil onto board by contemporary British artist Ian Mood. Inspired by coastlines, this expansive abstract painting captures the essence of sea, sky and rain, and has a meditative quality. There is a sense of being awash – awash by colour, by nature, by the air, and by the sea. As our eyes move across the painting, the movement of the brushstrokes and the style of the drips and colour wash absorb our attention and settle our mind. This oil on board is housed in a complementary light blue frame with an inner white window that pairs wonderfully with the painting. Both painting and frame are in excellent condition. This exquisite painting by Lindorm Liljefors, the talented Swedish painter, draughtsman, and sculptor, is a testament to his profound connection with nature and his artistic lineage. Born on September 18, 1909, in Ytterjärna, Södermanland, and passing away on February 20, 1985, in Skyttorp, Uppsala County, Lindorm was the son of the renowned artist Bruno Liljefors. American, b. 1949 In his more than three decades as an artist, Nicholas Berger (b. 1949) has created an outstanding body of work that continues to evolve and excite viewers. Best known for his industrial, waterfront scenes of New York between 1930-1970, Berger effortlessly captures a period when the technology and landscape of the city was rapidly changing. Although he paints scenes of a bygone era, Berger draws inspiration from the waterfronts near his home in New York’s Hudson River Highlands as well as historical sources in museums. Berger holds BFA and MFA degrees from Alfred University. Earlier in his career, the artist painted representational landscapes rendered in watercolor, a medium in which he achieved great success, sharing a sellout two-person show in Tokyo with Andrew Wyeth.
