Artist Comments
Although I live in Texas, I am well acquainted with the gorgeous mussels harvested along the Eastern Seaboard in the US and Canada. The exquisite deep purple and blue shells contain delectable gems of food within. Since I can only find frozen bags of mussels here in and the ;fresh; mussels that occasionally appear in the supermarket are generally of suspect age and origin, I will occasionally order them from the East Coast and have them flown overnight to my front door. They are well worth the the financial splurge! This painting is on a gallery wrapped canvas with finished edges and comes wired to hang.
About the Artist
For Kristine Kainer, recreating her emotional attachments to subject matter, whether a still-life or landscape, is paramount. Her goal is to emotionally trigger a response in the viewer. But, "this response does not need to replicate my own feelings; instead, I hope to make the viewer pause for a moment, reflect upon, then respond to my work in a personal, meaningful way."

Artist Alicia Dunn displays a dreamy seascape of the Northern California coast. The essence of serenity emanates in the relaxed panorama. Alicia captures the chill in the crisp sea air. Relaxing hues of blue flow along the canvas in soft and velvety brushwork.
About the Artist
Alicia Dunn’s abstract paintings are affected by a confluence of elements: the weather, her mood, and the properties of her materials. “Ceding control to these things allows the magic to happen,†the artist explains. Alicia's paintings capture the unique energy of nature, particularly that of the beach where she lives. Staring into the tranquil and luminous colors of her work, the viewer connects to shape of the waves, the swiftness of the wind, and the beginning of a day. Alicia is inspired by the simple things in life. Her awe of nature’s perfection and the thrill of constant discovery are conveyed in her art. Alicia works in water-based acrylic paint, and has developed a technique using blending gels to achieve not only rich color and texture, but also an eroded, weathered effect that reflects the process of the painting’s creation. Like nature itself, each painting shifts with the viewer, chronicling time through movement and beauty.

Abstracted bouquet of mixed flowers. Orange, pink and yellow petals jump off of a rich blue backdrop. Ruth-Anne built up the composition with many layers of thin and thick paint, scraped away sections and added small details throughout. Her gestural style of painting gives the piece energy and whimsy.
