Formerly in the collection of Holly Mauranges, San Francisco.
A large and bold, Post-Impressionist capriccio landscape, showing an imaginary aerial view of San Francisco and the bay, composed in vividly contrasting shades of ochre, teal, lilac and magenta.
Maude Church first studied at London's Byam Shaw College of Art before continuing her education at the California College of Arts & Crafts in Oakland. Over the course of a long career, she has exhibited nationally and internationally with success, at both solo and group shows, including at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, the Oakland Museum of Art, the Alpert Gallery, New York; Cumner Museum of Art, Jacksonville; the Riverside Art Museum, California; the Palace of Fine Arts, San Francisco and, in Germany, at Berlin's Amerikahaus Gallery.
Maude Church is listed in all relevant art reference works including Who's Who in Art, Who's Who in the West, The American Art Review and The California Art Review. She serves as National Board Director for the Women's Caucus for Art.
