About the Item
Born in Les Tavernes, in the canton of Vaud Michel Terrapon, during his studies in Friborg, met the painter Armand Niquille who introduced him to painting. From then on practicing in this art, he took part in several artistic events:
- Salon de Jeunes, in Friborg, in 1954;
- Personal exhibition in Friborg, at the Galerie de la Cité, in 1962;
- “Contemporary Valais Artists” exhibition at the Musée de la Majorie in Sion, in 1965, on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the entry of Valais into the Confederation;
- “The Vine and the Wine” exhibition, at the Château de Villa in Sierre, the same year;
- In 1966, he participated in a collective exhibition at the "Formes et couleurs" gallery in Aigle, at the 7th International Poetry Salon, at the Saint-Laurent Gallery, in Saint-Laurent-du-Pont, near Grenoble, at the 4th exhibition of the Association of Valais artists, in Savièse.
Member of the Fantastic Expression Group in Paris, Michel Terrapon is the ordinary engraver of the poetic review “Quaternaires” published in Lens (Pas-de-Calais).

Director of the Museum of Art and History of Friborg
The Villa Saint-Jean, in Friborg, is honored with a mural due to its talent and illustrating the fables of La Fontaine.
His wood engravings, drypoint, etchings and aquatints leave a deep impression: they reflect an inner life in communion with the secret forces of nature and express the whole fantastic universe of dreams.
