Cecropia Moth on Tree Bark - Life-Like Original Acrylic Painting, Framed

2024

About the Item

Michigan based artist Rick Pas paints images from nature in microscopic detail. Here a brightly colored Cecropia moth rests on highly textured tree bark. The Cecropia is the largest moth in North America and can grow to a wing span of 8 inches. This dazzling moth is a member of the giant silk worm family and survives only two weeks in it's adult stage, giving it just enough time to attract a mate and reproduce before dying. Here, Rick Pas has captured a female Cecropia Moth. From her perch she will release pheromones to attract a mate from up to a mile away. This painting is framed as shown in detail shots. Rick Pas Cecropia on Tree Bark acrylic on panel 20h x 16w in 50.80h x 40.64w cm FRAMED DIMENSIONS 23h x 19w x 1d in 58.42h x 48.26w x 2.54d cm RPA024 ARTIST'S STATEMENT Creating is an addiction. With all the highs and lows you would expect. I am interested in the surface textures and creating paintings that portray them in realistic detail. Hopefully a viewer will feel they can run a hand over the feathers and moss, or grasp an object in the painting. This detail is usually composed in an abstract design. The design can occur naturally or be arranged by me. The subjects of my paintings are usually based on the patterns and textures of nature and human interaction with nature. I have found subjects to paint in remote wilderness areas of the world, local parking lots, and my own backyard.
