Rising - Surreal Landscape with Row of Trees and Owl, Oil on Panel

2020

About the Item

The pristine, symmetrical and orderly landscape brings an unnatural stillness to John Hrehov's painting entitled "Rising". The owl is central to the sparse landscape peeking out of it's home in the tree. Straight lines and geometric patterns are used to compose a glossy concept of reality. The painting is framed in a simple dark gray wooden frame measuring 25.25 x 29.25 inches. • Night Crossing - Model Pirate Ship and Constellations, Oil on Panel
    By John Hrehov
    Located in Chicago, IL
A model pirate ship dominates the geometric backdrop of this perplexing painting titled, "Night Crossing." Constellations painted on the tiled surface suggest the ship is headed on a journey to be guided by star-filled sky above. Notions of voyage and conquest come to mind, but the boat is moored to its wooden base, dashing any hopes for adventure. The painting is framed in a simple walnut stained wooden frame measuring 25.25 x 21.25 inches. • Wisdom Trumps Violence - Surreal Oil Painting with a Leopard, an Owl, and a Man
    By Christopher Klein
    Located in Chicago, IL
Toying (e.g., rider on toy horse) with violent threats is not wise. The sounds (e.g., horn) of violence (e.g., spear and leopard) will never overtake wisdom (e.g., owl and pearl). This masterfully painted surrealist artwork draws in the viewer with its extraordinary detail. The artwork is framed. Christopher A. Klein Wisdom Trumps...

  • Sombras des Caldes (The Shadows of Caldes) - Architectural Imagery and a Dog
    By Carol Pylant
    Located in Chicago, IL
Carol Pylant's paintings are often devoid of humans. There is a more important role for the standing dog in "Sombras de Caldes" [Shadows of Caldes]. This is a warren hound, perhaps of the Podenco Andaluz breed, and he looks over its shoulder toward us, a companion waiting for us to join him. Maybe though, this dog is beseeching us to acts of rescue, since fires blaze in the background. Flames and smoke fill the sky beyond the bars of the metal balcony...

  • Rocks in the Current - Original Photorealist Painting of Dragonflies Atop Stones
    By Rick Pas
    Located in Chicago, IL
Painted with extraordinary detail, this moment in nature is captured in Rick Pas' unique style. Four brightly colored green dragonflies sit atop river stones as water gently moves beneath their transparent wings. Rick Pas Rocks in the Current acrylic on panel 30h x 24w in 76.20h x 60.96w cm ARTIST'S STATEMENT Creating is an addiction. With all the highs and lows you would expect. I am interested in the surface textures and creating paintings that portray them in realistic detail. Hopefully a viewer will feel they can run a hand over the feathers and moss, or grasp an object in the painting. This detail is usually composed in an abstract design. The design can occur naturally or be arranged by me. The subjects of my paintings are usually based on the patterns and textures of nature and human interaction with nature. I have found subjects to paint in remote wilderness areas of the world, local parking lots, and my own backyard.
