Biografía del artista:
Salvador Martorell i Oller (La Canonja, 2 de febrero de 1895 - Tarragona, 13 de mayo de 1968) fue un escultor catalán. Se formó en el Taller Arana y Bru de Tarragona y en la Escuela de la Lonja en Barcelona (1914), donde trabajó en la casa Gabriel Bechini. Expuso, en 1917, en Barcelona y en Tarragona, y obtuvo de la diputación tarraconense una pensión para ampliar estudios en París entre 1918 y 1919. Medalla de oro de la exposición Arts Déco de París de 1925 y de la Exposición Internacional de 1929, en Barcelona. Trabajó como profesor en el Taller-Escuela de Pintura y escultura de Tarragona (1934-1938) y en la Escuela-Taller de Arte de la Diputación de Tarragona (1947-1965). Tiene también dos medallas Julio Antonio de Tarragona (1944 y 1945). Su obra está vinculada al novecentismo y mostró un gran dominio de la técnica y una gran sensibilidad en el tratamiento de la figura humana.
