Paesaggio Addotivo
Located in San Francisco, CA
Serse creates drawings by erasure. He covers a sheet of paper with a dense layer of graphite, then ''draws'' on its surface with an eraser. Using photos as his point of departure, Serse renders mountains, bodies of water and trees from the shades of gray that emerge as he plies his eraser. The resulting image is mounted on aluminum. This image has a powerful presence because of the composition and the clarity of its realism. Serse was born in 1952 in San Polo di Piave. He lives and works in Trieste. The artist has produced over the years an extraordinary series of images that have been included in the book “Drawing”, edited by Phaidon Press. These also owed him the participation in significant national and international exhibitions such as: Parkview Museum in Beijing and Singapore (2018 - 2019); Palazzo del Governatore, Parma, Italy (2018); Centre Pompidou, Musée National d’Art Moderne, Paris, France (2013); Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Rimini, Italy (2012); Musée des Beaux-Arts et d’archéologie, Besançon, France (2010); Palazzo Reale, Milan, Italy (2007); De Garage Cultuurcentrum, Mechelen, Belgium (2006); III Biennial of Valencia, Spain (2005); S.M.A.K., Gent, Belgium (2004); Rufino Tamayo Museum, Mexico City, Mexico (2002); Center for Contemporary Art Luigi Pecci, Prato, Italy (2002); Kunstverein Augsburg , Augsburg, Germany (2000); Musée de Beaux Arts, Gent, Belgium (1999); Bevilacqua La Masa Foundation, Venice, Italy (1997). Amongst the institutions that hosted his most recent solo shows include: Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art of Saint-Etienne Métropole, Saint-Etienne, France (2014); Galleria Continua, San Gimignano, Italy (2015), Tan Guobin Museum, Changsha, China (2017) and Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes, Havana, Cuba (2017 - 2018). Broken Ice
Located in New York, NY
“Broken Ice” encapsulates a wintry landscape where light assumes a pivotal role, casting its glow upon the snow-covered foreground in front of an architectural marvel. The building portrayed draws inspiration from the iconic Farnsworth House, paying homage to Mies van der Rohe’ timeless modernistic pavilion. The interplay of light reflecting off the snow in the forefront becomes a focal point, illuminating the scene and contributing to the ambiance of the wintry landscape. This luminous display adds depth and texture to the composition, infusing it with a sense of tranquility and stark beauty. Against the backdrop stands an iceberg, its presence enhancing the sensation of intense cold permeating the environment. The contrast between the crisp lines of the modernistic structure and the imposing, icy form of the iceberg amplifies the painting’s evocative portrayal of frigid isolation. Crafted and prepared for display, “Broken Ice” stands...

Double Overtime Shift, Urban Industrial Landscape, Contemporary Realist Painting
Located in Chicago, IL
The factories of Art Chartow's "Double Overtime Shift" represent strength, industrial might, and the ability to vanquish nature. This place is strange, sinister and forbidding yet at the same time beautiful and fragile. The artist's uses paint to express the power of light at this particular time of day. The winter sun has cast it's light onto the cold metal silos to bring some hope of warmth - as seen on the melting snow covered road. This contemporary realist painting is framed in a simple black wooden frame measuring 23.25h x 45.25w inches.
