About the Item

Acquired by the gallery directly from the artist FRAMED:20.125" x 16.125" x 1.375" UNFRAMED: 12" x 16" Artist Statement “My painting ‘Night Palm’ originated from a week spent visiting the Mission Beach area of San Diego. The date palm is one of the oldest cultivated trees in the world. Considered an ancient symbol for prosperity, an emblem of triumph and victory, also referred to as ‘The Tree of Life.’ They take around five years to bear fruit, but live as long as 100 years. I loved the mood of that evening in Mission Beach, under this big old tree, and the nocturnal illumination. My landscapes tend to be centered on urban architectural forms and manmade environments. But lately, I've felt the need to make room for cultivated nature, a kind of metaphor for rejuvenation and refuge.” — Tony Peters Exhibited 20th Anniversary Exhibition: Celebrating a Legacy of Excellence, American Legacy Fine Arts, Pasadena, California, November 10 – December 16, 2023

Night Burger; Genre painting of a fast food worker looking out to a quiet beach
By Tony Peters
Located in Pasadena, CA
Artist Statement: "Over a decade ago, before this Fatburger location in Sherman Oaks was renovated, I was admiring the evening neon light bouncing off of these chrome stools. I had even started to paint the entire parking lot full of cars across the street, but decided that the mood of the piece would be enhanced if I changed it to a seaside location, making this piece more of a fiction. Story often draws me into a painting, and I felt the exaggerated aloneness was more connected to the feelings of inspiration I found in this place." -- Tony Peters Artwork Description: Night Burger by Tony Peters is a breathtaking oil on canvas painting that captures a considered and tranquil atmosphere with striking detail. This oil on canvas piece depicts a solitary fast food worker, standing alone inside an illuminated burger stand and gazing out into the night sky towards a distant beach with crashing waves. The painting's warm and vibrant colors bring to life the peaceful and serene mood of the scene. The figure in the painting wears an orange uniform and grey cap, with no customers present, creating a sense of solitude and introspection. The neon lights that illuminate the burger stand enhance the painting's warm and calming ambiance, reflecting the worker's silent reflection. The harmony between the worker's outfit and the neon lights creates a subtle yet cohesive effect, adding to the painting's overall beauty. Night Burger by Tony Peters inspires rumination and contemplation. Its minimalist presentation adds a contemporary touch to the piece, making it a perfect addition to any modern or traditional setting. This painting captures the beauty of the mundane and celebrates the peace that can be found in solitude. Conceptual Realist Palm Tree Painting, "Oasis 1"
By Perry Vàsquez
Located in San Diego, CA
This is a conceptual oil painting by local San Diego artist, Perry Vàsquez. Its dimensions are 26.5 x 88.5. It comes in a wooden neutral frame. This painting depicts a palm tree against a blue sky background. The palm tree is ornate with fine details from the artist in the leaves and the tree trunk. The artist has employed bright colors like green, brown, and blue. Vàsquez focuses primarily on his exploration of various iterations of palm trees. Ubiquitous in Southern California, and historically viewed as a provider of nourishment, shelter, and bounty, the trees in Vásquez’s paintings are instead framed in peculiar or dire scenarios. Many of the trees in his work are ablaze, or are actually cell towers...
