About the Item
A charming and beautiful rural landscape in oil on canvas by the French painter M. Juliany, signed in the lower right corner, French School . In the foreground, a winding path is traversed by two figures, who could be a mother and her daughter. This path suggests an atmosphere of peace and everyday life. The human figure is reduced to its essentials, thus avoiding the spotlight.
The village appears in the center of the composition, flanked by the river and what appears to be the beginning of a forest. A work with romantic overtones, which values nature as a subject in itself, but also as a reflection of the artist's melancholic feelings. Masterful use of light, which takes center stage. Warm-toned sunset light filters through the clouds, silhouettes the buildings and trees, and is reflected in the water, creating a misty, dreamlike atmosphere.
