Considered as one of the masters of the historical landscape's school, he painted an abundant production influenced by Italy. He played the role of intermediate between the historical landscape and the romantic movement. His paintings are found in many museums : Beziers, Fontainebleau, Dijon, Honfleur, Rennes, Versailles, Angers, Autun, Carpentras, Cherbourg, Coutances, Evreux, La Fere, Lille, Quimper, Nantes, Reims, Rouen, Toulouse.
