About the Item

Holy Week in Antigua, Guatemala by Stacy Kamin was painted as a commission for the gallery. It is 16 x 15 unframed and 20 x 21 framed. It is a handmade wooden frame and in perfect condition and has been in one location. There are famous Holy Week processions throughout Guatemala every Holy Week and the most famous is in Antigua which is about an hour from the capital. The people make carpets on the streets with flowers etc and the people carrying Mary and Jesus walk over it and destroy them. This is seen in the bottom left of the painting. This was painted from a photo the gallery owner took when he was in Antigua Chiaroscuro is an Italian term used to describe the technique of using light and dark in artwork, particularly a painting. Swiss Guard is painted in this style . The Swiss Guards guard the Pope and the Papal household The painting was done from a photo the gallery own took on a trip to the Vatican. Drawn to the dramatic effects of Rembrandt, Stacy sought out the instruction of two well-known masters of this knowledge—David A Leffel and Sherrie McGraw. She credits their influence for the startling light that she is able to achieve in her own work. “They introduced me to Abstract Realism, a way of painting so rich that I can’t imagine my education ever ending—I will be a student of this great tradition my entire life.” This humility coupled with a selfless generosity led to a desire to teach. She presently teaches workshops for Bright Light Fine Art nationwide. Recently she taught a figure and still life painting workshop with David A Leffel and Sherrie McGraw at Scottsdale Artist School; in 2019 she conducted a portrait painting class in Noyer’s France; and locally she teaches private workshops in Seal Beach.

This Nahuala Coop, 100% women farmer produced washed Guatemala heirloom coffee features sweet, clean and bright aromas of hazelnut. The flavor is rich, with notes of chocolate, citrus and roasted nuts, finishing smooth and lingering. Nearly the entire population of the municipality is made up of ethnic K'iche' Maya who speak the K'iche' language. The population of the township is estimated to be between 50,000 and 85,000 individuals, about 10% of whom live in the head-town. Encuentro, Monasteries on the slopes of Popocatépetl, Mexico, Oil on canvas,
Located in Houston, TX
Encuentro by Mercedes Ayala is an oil painting most like painted at the Monasteries on the slopes of Popocatépetl. The Monasteries consists of fourteen monasteries built on or near the Popocatépetl volcano in central Mexico in the sixteenth century by members of the Franciscan, Dominican and Augustinian orders. They were a major factor in the Christianization of a large population over a vast territory and in a short period of time. These 14 monasteries cover over 150 miles (242 kilometers) of land southeast of Mexico City; 11 in the state of Morelos and three in Puebla state. It was impossible to photograph but behind the second monk is a third monk and you can barely see the candle. This is an oil on canvas and painted in her studio in Mexico D.F. Excellent Condition Commentary of her work: Desiderio Hernández Xochitiotzin "Emphasizing the light; the inner light of the being where fragile and subtle figures of angelic appearance inhabit magical beings guardians of good, monks or sages, reminiscences that refuse to disappear. Figures that contrast faintly on a background, almost always dominated by suggestive colors of the night space or of the first morning flashes. Mercedes Ayala Gress, Artist of a high sensitivity as befits her to a great family of Artists… Meche as we fraternally call her, is an artist of a magnificent plastic domain and her work has recreated the greatness of our national landscapes and with great affection that of our Tlaxcalteca land, recreating with emotion in those novo Hispanic...

Street's Demonstration - Contemporary Figurative Oil Painting, Existentialism
By Piotr Kotlicki
Located in Salzburg, AT
Kotlicki is a constantly searching artist. Treading his own path, aiming at defining himself, giving his work a clear identity, he came across the avant-garde. He would back off the way, though, reckoning that a particular style imposes some limitations, and the real art is the liberation from the clichés and guidelines. Following this line of thinking, he managed to remain the independent artist, creating plainly under the influence of his own feelings experienced in a certain moment, the influence of certain occurrences. Kotlicki’s works are texturally rich to great extent. Along with chiaroscuro, the author plays with contrasts, setting flat colour patches with a thick, uneven layer of paint, round shapes with angular ones, oil paint with pastel, realism with non-descriptive painting. In terms of colours, he rather remains dedicated to monochromatism. The different colour appearing at times is to strengthen the effect of the domineering colour scheme. Similarly like in the case of chiaroscuro - it is not a compulsory action, the author remains open for his creative train of thought. Born 1972 in Poland. Graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Łódź, Poland in 2000, painting diploma by Prof. Ryszard Hunger. Currently works as assistant at the National Film School in Łódź at The Film and Television Directing Department (PWSFTViT). In line with his background, his creative work is multimedia-oriented with an emphasis on painting. They have been displayed at: Ningbo Museum of Art (China), the National Gallery of Art in Warsaw, the Audio-visual & new media arts festival Madatac in Madrid (Spain), the MS Dockville Festival in Hamburg (Germany), the International Video Festival in Novi Sad...
