About the Item
Exceptional gold foil Concetto Spaziale produced in 1962 for a rare official Lucio Fontana artist monograph during his lifetime, published by famed art book publisher Harry N. Abrams, Inc. (not included). The golden foil has the signature slash incised down the middle and is tipped in on thick black paper. With its metallic surface, the work is closely connected to the Metalli series (1961–68), which emerged from Fontana’s first visit to New York in November 1961 and the inspiration he found in the city’s intense verticality and metallic skyscrapers. The page has been removed from the monograph (not included) to be suitable for framing.
A rare opportunity to own a fully authorized Concetto Spaziale with an actual diagonal cut, reminiscent of the Lucio Fontana canvas hanging in the MoMA, but in a beautiful golden foil.
