Ernest Fiene
Dyckman Street Church (NYC)

1926

$750

About

Samuel Thomson was a builder and owner of the property where this church was built. (He also built Portico Place, at 143 West 13th Street, in 1846 -- once also a Presbyterian Church and is known for leaving the Customs House unfinished and taking the plans as well.) The Dyckman Street neighborhood was originally known as Tubby Hook. Sadly Thomson changed it to Mount Washington. The first service was in 1844. It was condemned in 1927 because of subway construction. No doubt Fiene knew it was about to be demolished. Signed, titled, dated, and numbered, in pencil. The edition size is 30.
