Lubaina Himid is a British artist, curator, and professor who emerged as a key figure in the UK's Black Arts Movement during the 1980s. Born in Zanzibar in 1954 and raised in England, Himid uses painting, installation, and printmaking to explore themes of cultural history, identity, and the legacies of colonialism. Her work often highlights the overlooked contributions of Black people in Western history and confronts issues such as racism, institutional exclusion, and the representation of Black women. Himid’s vibrant, narrative-driven pieces frequently include theatrical compositions and symbolic objects, aiming to both critique and reimagine dominant historical narratives.

Off the Grid is the culmination of a six-year photographic journey through Baja, Mexico. Ben Cope and Rowan Daly began their travels in 2014, working their way through the towns of la Salinas, Baja Mar, and Cantamar, down through Ensanada and la Bufadora. This series of photographs depicts the pair’s adventures and explorations. Off the Grid documents the textures, people, and places visited during this incredible journey.
Ben Cope is a Los Angeles based portrait artist with a BFA in ceramic sculpture and photography from Columbus State University. The area that would become Gold Point, one of Nevada’s best ghost towns, was first settled by ranchers and a few miners around 1880. A small camp was formed a few hundred yards west of the present-day townsite at an outcropping of limestone and was called Lime Point.
When new discoveries of both gold and silver established the major mining towns of Tonopah and Goldfield, Nevada in the early 1900s, a flood of prospectors returned to the old Lime Point mining camp to try their luck.
