Light in the Piazza is a 1962 American romantic comedy-drama film directed by Guy Green and starring Olivia de Havilland, Rossano Brazzi, Yvette Mimieux, George Hamilton, and Barry Sullivan. Based on the 1960 novel The Light in the Piazza by Elizabeth Spencer, the film is about a beautiful but mentally disabled young American woman traveling in Italy with her mother and the Italian man they meet during one leg of their trip. Image 39.5"H x 41.5"W Stretcher, 40"H x 42"W x 1"D Some slight age wear to edges and a few minor rubs to paper Jack was born in Chicago, Illinois, on March 5, 1940. Jack’s family moved to Palm Springs, California, in 1950. Jack graduated from the Northwestern Military and Naval Academy in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, in 1958. After graduation, Jack joined the Army Security Agency and spent the next few years in Sinop, Turkey, where he monitored Russian Submarines from P2V aircraft. Jack returned to the United States when his Mother died in 1960. He attended College and was reactivated by the military during the “Berlin Crisis” and spent a year at Ft. Devens, Massachusetts. Jack continued his education, ultimately ending up at the University of Southern California. He left college deciding to pursue the family movie theater business in Chicago. Jack was a natural showman and promoter, and loved marketing and selling the movies. He left Chicago and the family business in the late 1960s after his father’s death. Jack moved to Zihuatanejo, Mexico, and lived on a boat for a few years. In 1971 he moved to Aspen where he would begin his passion and pursuit of Native American culture and art of the Southwest. Jack traveled extensively throughout the Southwest, studying and buying art from the Pueblo Indians, ultimately putting together one of the world’s great collections of Native American weaving and pottery. He depicted his collection in a series of serigraphs, art cards and other print work that he sold around the country and online. Large folio, (388x279mm - 15 1/4 x 11 inches), 2 leaves French-folded (folded twice) to make a 4-page booklet, printed in red and black with one of Gill's initial letters from the Four Gospels. (Gill, Corey & Mackenzie, Eric Gill a bibliography 636.33) Printed by Harold Seeger & Albert Sperisen for a joint meeting of the Roxburghe-Zamorano Clubs. This is a reproduction of the original text with Gill's annotations printed in red and grey. Housed in the 15 1/2 x 11 1/2-inch envelope that accompanied the work. Walter Shewring (2906-1990) was educated at Bristol Grammar School and Corpus Christi College, Oxford, Shewring became a Catholic in 1928 and went to Ampleforth to teach classics the same year. The school's much-revered headmaster, Paul Nevill, used to tell pupils that it was "a great luxury" to be taught by such a noted classics teacher. His love of classics was not, though, confined to the classroom, and he composed much Latin and Greek prose, even publishing a volume of his .own work, Versions (Oxford .University Press).
