JOHN MARIN DOWNTOWN SYNTHESIS (Zigrosser 140) Etching with tonal areas, 1925. Signed in pencil lower left, and titled lower right "Downtown N.Y." Edition c. 20. RARE. Only 2 have appeared at auction in the past 30 years. Image size 9 1/2 x 7 5/8". Also signed and dated lower right "Marin 25." in the plate. Each impression is unique with individually hand wiped tonal areas. The original copper plate is in the collection of the Philadelphia Museum of Art.
