An Artist's Proof, full-sheet stone lithograph from this small edition, with vibrant and fresh colors throughout, showing a view of fishing boats moored on the Atlantic coast of this picturesque coastal town in the Region du Gard adjacent to the legendary wild horse sanctuary of the Camargue.
Georges Lambert first studied in Paris at the Academie de la Grande Chaumiere where he worked under Othon Friesz and achieved early critical recognition for both his paintings and graphic work. Lambert exhibited internationally with success, including at the Salon des Artistes Francaises (from 1949), and, subsequently, in Germany, Italy, France, England, the United States and Japan. He was also a prolific book illustrator, contributing original lithographs to a variety of literary works including Machiavelli's, "The Prince" (1964). Lambert's work may be found in the permanent collections of national museums including the National Library of France which contains a collection of 81 lithographs by the artist. Lambert is listed in all relevant art reference works including Benezit.

Georges Lambert
Georges Lambert ( French, 1919-1998) was a French painter and lithographer devoted to vibrant coloration of landscapes, figure studies, seascapes, and harbor scenes, in a semi modernist style. He studied at the Academie de la Grande Chamiere, Paris, where he worked under Othon Friesz. Lambert exhibited throughout France, and internationally in countries such as Germany, Italy, England, and the United States. Lambert also produced original lithographs for several publications and books , such as the 1964 edition of Machiavelli's " The Prince".
