If you haven’t had the chance to check out this week’s Introspective story on interior designer Gideon Mendelson, do yourself a favor and click over now. Mendelson is a “glass half-full” kind of designer, who approaches projects with a sense of possibility, instead of a set of limitations. To wit, check out the incredible transformation, below, that the decorator pulled off for this year’s Kips Bay Showhouse. Magically, dangling wires and moldy carpeting are replaced by lush, layered textures and feminine furnishings worthy of a modern-day Marie Antoinette. And no matter your budget, it’s this kind of transformative optimism that makes a good designer priceless.
