Front-Row Finds: 5 NYFW-Inspired 1stdibs Finds

We feel a mix of relief and sadness as the dust settles on NYFW. Bloggers retreat to their laptops, models dash to the nearest Shake Shack and… wait, just kidding, everyone is off to London for the next round of shows. As we looked back at last week’s collections, we couldn’t help but notice the resemblance between several of the ensembles and a few choice pieces from 1stdibs. Spanning the spectrum between Proenza Schouler’s chic athleticism to recent Saturday Shopper Thom Browne‘s theatrical creations, we’ve paired a series of notable looks with enviable items.

Proenza Schouler

Proenza Schouler’s color-blocked, contemporary spin on classic American sportswear echoes the ‘Pyramids Rouges’ tapestry by Alexander Calder in the matching blue and white stripes, pointy red geometries, and black-and-nude grids.

Rodarte

Rodarte’s show was an entrancing aquatic daydream but we can’t take our attention away from the hardware garnishing the models’ eyebrows. Get the look for your desk — and not your face — with this silver-plated mail sorter by Richard Meier for Swid Powell.

Altuzarra

Strapped in. The understated sexiness of Altuzarra’s latticework skirt is echoed in the leatherwork and brass accents of these Brazilian rosewood chairs.

Jeremy Scott Thom Browne

Jeremy just wants to have fun. Channeling modern day club-kids and ravers, Scott’s bold use of color and patterns calls to mind the work of the Memphis Design School — in particular, this rare ‘Acropoli’ console by designer Ettore Sottsass

Thom Browne once again masterfully mixed classic silhouettes with modern materials. This look outines the skeleton of the garment, subtly framing what lies beneath— not at all unlike the silver frame of this Westinghouse ball fan. Bonus: the exposed blades bear a striking resemblance to Browne’s blossoms.
