Taylor Swift just can’t help starting trends. When she announced her new album,The Life of a Showgirl, on fiancé Travis Kelce’s podcast, New Heights, she did so brandishing a bright orange vinyl record. As she explained on the podcast, “[The color] feels like energetically how my life has felt — and this album is about what was going on behind the scenes in my inner life during [the Eras tour], which was so exuberant and electric and vibrant.”
The specific shade, dubbed Portofino Orange Glitter by Swift, is appropriately bold and attention grabbing, given all the album’s Las Vegas imagery. It has since exploded in popularity, with a number of brands jumping on the sunset-tone bandwagon. WWD reports that Glossier, United Airlines, Tarte and Dunkin’ all added the color to social media posts. Much as with last summer’s Brat green craze, spurred by Charli XCX’s album, individuals, too, have been seeking out orange, with Pinterest showing a surge in searches for the hue ever since the album announcement.
