A pair of vintage original Le Corbusier, Perriand and Jeanneret LC2 Chrome and Ivory Leather lounge chairs for Cassina with labelled upholstery and serial numbers. The price shown is for both chairs. The LC2 chair, designed in 1928 by Le Corbusier, Pierre Jeanneret, and Charlotte Perriand, is a key piece in the evolution of modernist furniture. Originally part of a series created for the Villa Church (a private residence for a client in the Paris suburb of Ville-d'Avray), the LC2 epitomizes the collaborative spirit of the three designers. Its tubular steel frame and free form cushions marked a break from traditional designs, combining minimalist form with unexpected comfort. It was first presented in 1929 at the Salon d'Automne in Paris as part of a collection that would later be called the Equipement Interieur d’une Habitation (Interior Equipment for a Living). Alongside the LC2, the trio designed other iconic pieces, such as the LC1 Sling Chair, the LC3 Sofa, and the LC4 Chaise Longue. The LC4, in particular, is often considered one of the most innovative pieces in the collection, with its curved steel frame and adjustable reclining mechanism it was not just a chair, but a piece of furniture designed to enhance relaxation. As such it became a symbol of the modernist ideal—furniture that was as much about living comfortably as it was about making a design statement. The LC designs were created not just as individual works but as a broader vision for modern interiors, where furniture wasn’t just decorative but integrated into the living environment, serving both aesthetic and functional purposes. While the LC2 chair was part of this vision for the Villa Church, it wasn't designed specifically for that one space; rather, it was a part of an overall shift towards modernist furniture that transcended any one project. An exceptional pair of early 1970s vintage Vatne Møbler, Sigurd Ressell Falcon chairs in beautifully patinated brown leather with chrome frames. Known for its distinctive and striking chrome frame and suspended sling seat the Falcon Chair stands out as one of the most instantly recognisable pieces of vintage Scandinavian design. Originally designed by Ressell in 1970 the first chairs were produced in chrome and leather, and had a more industrial aesthetic which aligned with a trend that had started in Denmark in the late 1960s and early 1970s – using metal bar to create chair structures was popularised by the key Danish designers of the time; most notably, Poul Kjærholm, Preben Fabricius and Jørgen Kastholm. The chair has undergone several refinements and as consumer preferences shifted towards warmer, more organic materials, the Falcon Chair followed suit. In the mid-1970s, Vatne Møbler transitioned the chair’s frame from steel to bentwood, replacing the original chrome structure with a laminated beech or rosewood frame. This change softened the chair’s industrial edge and aligned it more closely with the naturalistic elements of Scandinavian furniture design, but also helped lower transportation cost to the USA which proved to be the largest market for export Falcons. All that said, for most purists seeking a vintage Falcon the original chrome framed version, which is as Ressell initially envisioned it, is often the first choice as it not only makes more of statement but it’s proven to be more durable – as such the chrome frame Falcons command higher prices and hold their value well. This pair are presented in very good vintage condition with light wear commensurate with age and use. There is the usual light cracking of the leather on the top of the sling belt supports but no holes, cracks or tears in the main leather upholstery, and no loss in integrity of the cushion padding. The stone coloured canvas slings are virtually unmarked (as they are in such great condition it’s possible that they may have been refreshed at some point) and the steel frames have only very light tarnish and no rust, pitting or flaking of the chrome. Sigurd Ressell Born in Norway in 1920, Sigurd Ressell studied at the National Academy of Craft and Art Industry in Oslo, where he developed his keen sense of industrial and furniture design. Ressell’s work was defined by strong geometric lines, practical aesthetics, and a deep understanding of materials. His career gained momentum in the 1950s, working for Sørlie Fabrikker, before he eventually collaborated with Vatne Møbler, the company that brought the Falcon Chair to life. Ressell also drew inspiration from the sleek, organic lines of nature, something deeply embedded in Scandinavian design philosophy. The Falcon Chair’s curved frame mimics the movement of a bird in flight, while its suspended leather seat cradles the user, offering both visual lightness and physical relaxation. The Falcon is his most famous work, but his broader body of work showcases a consistent dedication to comfort, function, and timeless design. Vatne Møbler Founded in 1946, Vatne Møbler is a Norwegian furniture manufacturer known for its commitment to producing high-quality, handcrafted furniture. The company gained international recognition during the 1960s and 70s, particularly with the Falcon Chair, which became a best-seller. A set of 4 Danish Mid Century vintage leather and steel PK9 chairs designed by Poul Kjaerholm for E. Kold Christensen with additional bespoke, later designed, optional seat height extensions. These are a beautifully crafted set of chairs with a simple but striking form that have often been cited as Kjaerholm’s finest work; and for good reason… as the story goes Kjaerholm was inspired by a sand imprint of his wife’s behind from a day at the beach. Later, during the design process, Hanne Kjærholm sat in boxes of clay to find the most optimal and comfortable solution; so now you know. An exceptional set of 10 Preben Fabricius and Jørgen Kastholm limited edition cognac leather FK6728 armchairs matched to a large an impressive Matteo Grassi cream leather and glass dining table. The price shown is for all 10 chairs and the table including the glass top. Originally designed by powerhouse 1960s design team Preben Fabricius and Jørgen Kastholm in 1964, their ‘Tulip’ chair has become an icon of Mid Century Danish design. The actual original name for this chair that was produced by Kill International is ‘The Bucket Chair’ and it is still produced today by Walter Knoll under that name. Needless to say the name comes nowhere near close to portraying the beautiful and curvaceous lines it exhibits which is why over the years it’s often been referred to as the ‘Tulip’ or ‘Bird’ Chair. The original production name was the FK 6725 which relates to the chair with the fixed base and seat. Other production variants number from 6725-6729 and also have been produced in a 3 leg (3G), 4 leg (4G) or 5 star (5R) base and with or without castors. The original chair was produced with a fixed seat and base, but later versions had a rotating seat - and later still a 4 star and 5 star base with both a tilting and rotating seat. All production models had circular slides or castors fitted to the base of the feet so if you ever see a listing without one or the other they are missing in action. The FK high back armchair version, as shown here, has a leather pad and a gloss white shell and a 4 star rotating base. This was a special edition, as confirmed by email via Walter Knoll, and was therefore only produced in very limited numbers. The fine lines and contours found on the FK chair are still as compelling today as they were when the chair was first introduced. The sculptured arm rests elegantly curve up and away from the chair base and provide both comfort and support. It’s a stylish, easy going chair that works well both in a domestic environment as a dining, side or desk chair, or in a business environment as a meeting room or conference room chair. All the chairs in this set are in good used condition with just minor signs of wear here and there as expected. There really is nothing much to choose between any of the 10 as there are no major marks or damages. The polished 4 star base on all the chairs are also in good condition with just a few scuff marks and scratches on the tops of the profiles, again just as you would expect. The chairs are matched to a beautifully designed and constructed Matteo Grassi cream leather and glass dining table. This large and impressive table has a steel core base that has been upholstered in cream leather and that features a thick glass, floating table top. Matteo Grassi had a long history of producing high quality and finely crafted saddlery going as far back as 1880, and this shines through in the quality of the construction and stitching on all of their products. Like many of their designs the point of identification is that the metal framework is an analogy for the human skeleton with the leather acting as the ‘skin’ that shrouds the frame. The Matteo Grassi family company first came to the notice of interior designers and retailers when the Korium series of chairs were first introduced in 1978. This was the first design they produced under their own name after they moved into mainstream furniture production. This change was based on their increasing involvement in furniture prototyping in the previous 10 years that saw them create and develop bespoke designs for many leading architects and designers. They have ever since been known for producing quality pieces of furniture including the MG5 cantilever chair. This table is the Gazelle model and was produced from the late 1990s through to around 2010 and features their trademark stitching and thick leather; it really is a rare and beautiful table and one that is almost impossible to find on the resale market. It’s constructed of a heavy metal frame with adjustable pads that support a thick glass, racetrack oval shaped top that simply floats above the frame. Whilst it is a very well made and solid piece, it can still be moved by two strong people. This particular table dates from the late 90s and is in excellent condition with only very light marks to the frame and glass – there are no chips in the glass edge. The table has the Matteo Grassi imprint on leather plaques on the underneath of the main frame. As you can see by reference to the photographs, the table can accommodate 10 chairs, but also works well with 8, or 6 chairs too. On this basis you can adapt the seating to your needs and maybe only have all 10 chairs out for larger gatherings and special occasions. Whilst both the chairs and table were designed for the domestic environment the set would work equally as well in an office setting as a funky meeting room or conference table set...

A beautifully sculptural set of 4 Vintage Danish Mid Century Arne Hovmand-Olsen MK310 teak dining chairs with original black vinyl upholstery for Mogens Kold, 1950s. Originally designed by Olsen in 1951 and manufactured by Mogens Kold, Denmark, these chairs stand out as one of the very first chair designs Olsen created. The chairs feature a sculptural organic back shape that is constructed with a feature insert of plywood and solid teak. Olsen was recognised as being one of the forerunners of using this technique to add strength and durability to his designs as well as creating beautifully sculptured forms that appear as carved from solid wood. This is a design and construction style also adopted by many of his contemporaries including Niels Otto Moller, and many of the designs created by them both are often misattributed as each other’s as they share many similar details and characteristics. These particular chairs were produced with two options of seating style and fabric: one was the famous Danish paper cord seat that was widely used in the 50’s and 60s, and the other, as here, in simple black vinyl. The vinyl used on Mid Century Danish seating is very durable and impressed with a realistic grain that actually makes it very difficult to tell it apart from leather. The other advantage of the vinyl is that as it is intentionally used without a foam insert it accentuates the clean, crisp angular line of the seating base which acts as a counterpoint to the softer more flowing lines of the wooden structure. Plus it’s a lot easier to keep clean and in good condition compared to paper cord! The set is in very good vintage condition with light marks in the wooden frame and on the seats here and there commensurate with age and use – all the joints are solid and sound. Three of the four chairs maintain both the Danish quality control and the MK manufacturer’s metal labels as shown in the pictures, the other is missing in action, maybe eaten by a tiny cockapoo... The chairs are very much in ‘found’ condition and have just had a simple rub down and application of wax to bring them up to a soft sheen. Note that it is a hard seat as there is no foam underlay, but they look good with such sharp lines and are, in any event, very easy chairs to upholster...

A rare complete set of 6 Sigvard Bernadotte H-line Danish armchairs in dark burgundy leather with brushed steel frames and solid Walnut arms for France & Son. Designed in the 1960s by the renowned Swedish designer Sigvard Bernedotte the H-line armchairs stand out as one of his rarest designs. Constructed of a steel frame with solid, contoured walnut arms, the chairs also feature a sprung seat and back that adds both comfort and support. And here, finished in a soft dark burgundy leather, they represent probably the finest example of these chairs currently available. Little is known about the design of the chairs other than they were part of a small project that also included a range of modular sofas. The sofas and solo H-line modular system components had open sides rather than arm rests and combined with a coffee table and corner table to create a flexible seating system. It’s believed the system was created in the mid to late 60s at the changeover period in 1967 when Poul Cadovius acquired France & Son and changed the name to Cado. Bernadotte had worked with France & Son on a number of chair designs since 1953 but these were all constructed in wood, which was France and Son’s (formerly France & Daverkosen) great strength. The move to using metal in the H-line coincided with Bernadotte’s own work with metal in other design projects; particularly at Georg Jensen and with Bang & Olufsen, and also with the launch of his own design company in 1964. Bernadotte Design AB helped a number of International and Scandinavian companies explore new materials, technologies, and aesthetic possibilities and it’s believed the H-line was a development in new materials and production techniques for France & Son. This change was later embraced by Cado who created a number of designs using a metal frame by, amongst others, Knudsen & Lind. The quality, as always associated with both France & Son and Cado, shines through on these chairs. From the almost seamless welding of the joints on the square tubing to how all the bolts and screws are recessed to be flush with the frame; everything exhibits an impressive attention to detail. It’s therefore reassuring to note that the renovation of the chairs follows the same ideal. It looks like the frames have been meticulously cleaned, stripped, brushed and polished and the chairs beautifully reupholstered in high quality dark burgundy leather. These details combined with the contoured, waxed and polished solid Walnut arms creates a truly sophisticated and elegant set of chairs that would work well as dining chairs or even as a set of impressive board room chairs...

A classic set of 4 vintage Eero Saarininen Knoll Inc. executive armchairs in the original Knoll blue fabric with an oak frame base. The Eero Saarinen Executive armchair was featured in nearly every Florence Knoll Mid Century interior throughout the 1950s and beyond. Originally introduced in 1950, the chair transformed the notion of what executive seating could be with its fluid, sculptural form and modern finishing. The timeless and versatile design continues to fit seamlessly into work, conference, lounge and dining applications of any décor. The chair remains as one of the most popular Knoll designs ever with new versions of the armchair, as shown here, in fabric with the wooden light oak base retailing at around £2,000 per chair. And it’s the wooden legs that add to their appeal and was ultimately a big improvement on the original tubular steel frame. They are just warmer and more welcoming, as well as being more aesthetically pleasing. As such the chairs are more often used these days as dining chairs rather than in the office. The chairs are also supremely comfortable and are upholstered in a classic Knoll wool fabric that has different subtle colour flecks within the fabric and that also features a slightly darker colour in the seat. This is an intentional design aesthetic as it helps to maintain the condition and look of the seat with heavier use. They date from the 1990s and remain in very good vintage condition with only light signs of use. This item is sold as a set of 4 chairs but the chairs are also available as a complete dining set matched with a Florence Knoll Walnut table...

A very large Vintage Mid Century Teak, Afromosia and Sapele Knighstbridge sideboard/credenza designed by Robert Heritage for Archie Shine. Standing at just over 244cm in length the Knightsbridge really was the Grand Daddy of all Heritage’s amazing sideboards; not to mention the combination of wood that gave it a wonderfully aesthetic appeal. It’s therefore a long sideboard that would naturally suit a large room or hallway. The drawer section is ribbed Afromosia (which is a harder African teak variant with a richer darker colour) whereas the main cupboard and top section is a more traditional golden teak. But in addition, Heritage has finished the main doors off in Sapele which is a lighter cross cut Mahogany variant that creates a ribbon grain effect as it catches the light – the doors can therefore look lighter or darker in colour as you walk around the piece. As regards storage, there’s a lot on offer. The sideboard has 4 large drawers with beautifully detailed handles and with stylised ribbed fronts – and then there are two sets of doors which reveal two large two tier storage...
