About the Item

This wooden pillow from Shanxi takes the form of a traditional Chinese bench, beautifully miniaturized with a gently curved top surface for resting one's head. What is special about this piece is the meticulous attention paid to the decorative details typically found on full-sized furniture. The pillow retains its original colour and exhibits a rich patina developed over generations of use. The corner spandrels are missing one three sides, it remains intact on only one side, showing the original design. Note that two of the legs are not splayed like how it was originally intended, it is straighter now, this was due to repairs done by the previous owner. Dimensions: the top is 7.5cm wide, the splayed legs are 9.5cm wide at the base. The height to the middle of the pillow is around 9.2cm. We present this piece in its authentic condition, preserving its history and character.
