Japanese Antique Flap door storage shelf, Wabi Sabi, Japandi
About the Item
A four-tier flap-door shelf from the Taisho period.
In addition to the four main tiers, the shelf also has separate base and crown, making it a total of six parts, making it easy to store and transport, and flexible in its uses.
It is said that in the past, this system was used to organize documents by tier, so that they could be carried by tier as needed.
The structure itself is standard, but the decorations throughout make this shelf an impressive piece.
The soft steps on the crown and base, the modest yet striking molding, and the chamfered edges on the wooden door frame.
The design is carefully applied so that it is not too flashy, but conveys a sense of quality at a glance.
The material used is cherry wood.
The smooth wood grain and calm reddish color give it a quiet elegance.
It is recommended not only as a document shelf, but also as a cupboard, bookcase, and display case.
Our craftsmen carefully repaired it and revived it as furniture to be passed on to the next generation.
*This is an antique in good condition, but there are small scratches and slight distortions other than those shown in the detailed images.
