Tobacco Pot Pencil Pot in Slip Frie Onnaing, France 19th Art Nouveau

Tobacco jar or blue and green pencil jar in slip signed Frie Onnaing, circa 1890. The two handles are elephant heads, decorated with corn. The slip gives the pot a nice shiny effect. Brilliant colors. Style: Majolica Pottery Materials and techniques: Barbotine Place of origin: France Period: 1890-1899 Number 179 corresponds to the elephant model. The Onnaing factory, in the North of France, focuses its production on molded and decorated earthenware objects, commonly called slips, which have earned it its notoriety. These pieces, created from new models, reproduce in the form of pitchers or planters animals, characters, sometimes political, fruits or vegetables. Each model is numbered.
