About the Item
Annamese Molded Blue and White Ceramic Box, Chu Dau kiln, Vietnam, circa 1500. The cover delicately decorated with a central floral medallion from which radiate six conjoined ruyi lappets, the sides with six lotus petal reserves containing alternating patterns of spots and lattice, evidence of further polychrome decoration of red and green, countersunk base. Minor rim frit on the interior, minor glaze deterioration, otherwise excellent condition. 1-1/2 in. high x 2-1/8 in. in diameter. (38 x 54mm) 2 oz. (67g.) 15th/16th century.
