Antique Japanese Meiji Period Imari Porcelain Punch Bowl or Centerpiece

About the Item

A fine large antique Japanese Meiji porcelain bowl. With a white ground and extensively gilt throughout. Primarily decorated in red, blue, and gold with bits of green, brown, and yellow as accent colors. There is a circular flower motif offset from the center of the bowl and ribbon devices with varying patterns emanate from it. Between each set of ribbon devices are cartouches depicting Japanese flora, fauna, and landscape. The outside of the bowl shares the same pattern and is continuous with the interior. Simply a wonderful large Japanese porcelain bowl! Date: Late 19th or Early 20th Century Overall Condition: It is in overall good, as-pictured, used estate condition. Condition Details: There is a repaired chip to the rim, a noticeable firing flaw to one of the painted mountains to the interior, and some minor rubbing to the gilding throughout. Otherwise, there are some fine & light surface scratches and other signs of expected light wear consistent with age. Marks: Unmarked Measurements: Height: ca. 4 3/4 in. Diameter: ca. 11 7/8 in.
