Described in ancient Chinese texts as the “moon dyed with spring water,” celadon ceramics are prized for their well-proportioned forms and luminous blue-green glazes. This vintage celadon vase was sculpted by artisans of the Mengrai Kilns in Chiangmai, Thailand, a small-scale workshop renowned for their celadon vessels and glazed stonewares, each crafted by hand using traditional methods.
The elegant vase has a timeless silhouette known as a meiping vase, traditionally used to display flowering plum blossoms. The high shoulders and tapered sides are decorated with etchings of swirling clouds and cloaked in a pale celadon glaze with sheer translucency and a distinctive, crackled finish. Stamped with maker's marks of the Mengrai Kilns.
