About the Item

A decorative 1980s gold and pastel toned Chinese porcelain charger plate, handcrafted and adorned in the Mille Fleur style; a design known as the "thousand flowers" pattern. The Mille Fleur style originated in the late Yongzheng period, and became highly popular during the Qianlong era and continued through the Jiaqing and Daoguang periods.. The Mille Fleur pattern symbolises "all the flowers bestow their blessings." The plate features peony flowers and chrysanthemums in vibrant reds, violets, and lemon yellow, set amidst a sea of imperial turquoise foliage. The array of brightly coloured blooms is highlighted by the gold glazed backdrop. Measuring 28cm in diameter, the beautiful floral plate comes in very good condition for its age and use. Stamped with a red Qianlong apocryphal seal.
