About the Item

Chinese Qing Dynasty Vase Circa 1900 Origin China Decoration with traditional scenes (1644 - 1911) Glazed and enamelled technique Blue and white colour Porcelain material Excellent condition without restorations Some original imperfections in its manufacture Also called the Qing Empire or Manchu Dynasty, it was the last imperial dynasty of China, which ruled the current country between 1644 and 1912. It was preceded by the Ming Dynasty and succeeded by the Republic of China. The multicultural Qing Empire lasted almost three centuries and formed the territorial basis for the modern Chinese state. The dynasty was founded by the Yurchen clan of Aisin-Gioro in Manchuria, where in the early 17th century they established a multiethnic state with its capital in Mukden. In 1644, taking advantage of the weakness of the Ming Dynasty following Li Zicheng's revolt, the Manchu general Dorgon crossed the Great Wall with Chinese assistance and invaded China, capturing Beijing in 1645. Dorgon proclaimed his nephew Shunzhi Emperor of China, thus beginning Qing rule over all of China. The dynasty quickly consolidated its control over China, reaching its peak during the reign of the Qianlong Emperor (r. 1735–1796), after which it began a gradual decline.
