Japanese Contemporary Red Blue Green Glazed Porcelain Vase by Master Artist

About the Item

Exquisite Japanese contemporary decorative porcelain vase, hand-glazed in the artist;s signature vivid red on the upper part and an extraordinary soft bluish greenish purplish cream color on the lower part of this piece with the stunningly shaped body, from the extraordinary signature Galaxy series by highly celebrated award-winning master porcelain artist of the Arita-Imari region of Japan. The lotus shape rim of the vase adds another layer of elegance to this piece. This exquisite signed masterpiece features an awe-inspiring array of colors that include his signature ruby red and deep purple expressed in subtle gradations. He is the recipient of numerous prestigious awards for his exceptional work and his many contributions to this centuries old art. This artist's profile is available upon request. This artist is a master of the 'Yohen technique', roughly translated as “alchemy of the kiln,” in which minute variations in closely guarded glaze recipes and kiln temperatures produce a surprising pallet of hues and patterns manifested in subtle but awe-inspiring gradations of color. To create this piece the artist mixes iron oxides and other colorant minerals to his glazes to produce the effect of millions of stars glowing faintly against deep red and purple skies. In creating this mesmerizing vision of the infinite expanse of the “outer space,” the artist beckons the viewer to explore the infinite possibilities of the “inner space.” This stunningly hand-glazed masterpiece comes in a custom-made wooden case signed by the artist. Japanese Porcelain Dragon Glazed Vase Mazuku Kozan
By Makuzu Kozan
Located in Atlanta, GA
A porcelain vase with dragon motif by Japanese imperial potter Makuzu Kozan (1842-1916), circa 1900s. The vase is made in what is considered early phase of his underglaze period during late Meiji era. In a classic elongated baluster form, the surface of the vase was decorated in an unusual pink mist on a white and aubergine background (called Morotai, the Hazy style), on which a flying dragon is showcased on the center. The dragon was outlined in iron red and filled with the aubergine color and was artistically emphasized on its bulging eyes, claws, scales and a long tail. It was the sole focus of the design circumventing the entire body of the vase. The imagery calls in mind the dragon decoration found in Korean...
