About the Item

A bold blue and yellow decorative porcelain charger plate, hand-crafted in Japan around the 1920s. Hand-painted with a scene depicting a Geisha reading from a scroll on a walkway adorned with chrysanthemum flowers, this decorative plate features a trio of bold, saturated enamel tones: cobalt blue, sunflower yellow, and deep burnt orange, complemented by secondary tones of mint green, dark green, and burgundy. The unique and bold color selection makes this piece stand out a sense of modernity. Measuring 22.7cm in diameter, the small size is perfect for showcasing its vibrant color composition. Although the charger plate is unsigned, the style and color choices displayed, suggest it is by the famed Yamatoku Kiln in the Saga Prefecture. This antique piece combines triadic colors and a simplified depiction of a Geisha and nature, making it a versatile addition to many modern interior styles—an uncommon feature in antique Japanese porcelain.
