Korean Ceramic White Jar with Iron Red Cloud Motif Joseon Dynasty

About the Item

An antique Korean porcelain storage jar from Joseon Dynasty circa 18-19th century. The jar is of a typical form with swelled shoulder that tapers down toward the base. It features a short upward neck with a large opening. The surface is covered in a slightly bluish white glaze and shows fine crackles throughout. The front and back side of the jar features an abstract cloud pattern in the form of spiritual mushroom. The sparse decoration was done in iron-red underglaze and contrasts sharply with the white background. The jar shows significant patina throughout as depicted in the condition. It comes with a wood storage box (tomobako) with Kanji inscription on the lid and side: Li Dynasty Deep Red Dragon Cloud Decorated Jar. The jar also comes with a padded wrapping cloth. From a Japanese collection.
