Large Antique Chinese Famille Rose Porcelain Baluster Vase Temple Jar.
Large and beautiful Early 20th century hand painted Chinese Famille Rose porcelain temple jar. Famille Rose has a very refined paste producing fine grained porcelain. This piece has a luminous and slightly blue glaze. This temple jar is painted with a range of soft hues and a delicate graduation of colors. The jar features Chinese women in a garden setting among cherry trees. Vignette on domed shaped lid echoes the center figures of the body. On the back side are multiple line inscriptions. Innovative artisans incorporated calligraphy into the pictorial decoration, and it is considered a significant art form.
Includes raised wood carved stand
Condition is good antique. Minor wear commensurate with age and use. One chip on lid rim, one flea bite, a couple small chips under lid. one small chip on foot. (see photos)
