About the Item

From a small collection of five Persian hand painted pottery vases is this stylish earthenware five-sided (Polygon shaped) bottle shaped vase hand painted with stylized leaf panel patterning dating from the early to mid-20th century. The lightly potted vase stands on a flat unglazed foot with each of the five sides hand painted with a blue panel set within a black outline painted with stylized leaf designs in red and against a white glazed ground. The vase has a flat shoulder painted in a similar style and has a narrow funnel shaped neck with a ring shaped slightly wider top. The vase is not marked. In good presentable with age crazing to the glazed finish and the usual irregularities of these handmade pieces. Provenance: acquired in the British art market.
