About the Item

Described in ancient Chinese texts as the “moon dyed with spring water,” celadon ceramics are prized for their well-proportioned forms and luminous blue-green glazes. This vintage celadon vase was sculpted by artisans of the Mengrai Kilns in Chiangmai, Thailand, a small-scale workshop renowned for their celadon vessels and glazed stonewares, each crafted by hand using traditional methods. The petite vase has an elegant form, sculpted with a round, teardrop body, narrow bottle neck and small strap handles. The sides are etched with simple linework and cloaked in a pale celadon glaze with sheer translucency and a distinctive, crackled finish. Stamped with maker's marks of the Mengrai Kilns.
