About the Item

This superb heavy Egyptian Grand Tour wall charger is beautifully handmade in heavy brass or bronze. This fine piece weighs over half a kilogram. The charger is very decorative. At its centre, it has a complicated ancient scene with ceremonial figures bearing gifts to a seated Pharaoh surrounded by Egyptian hieroglyphics, figures, and ancient scenes, all of which are hand carved and inlaid in raised silver and copper and finished with a hand-chased border in a classical herringbone style. The raised rim is further inlaid in silver and copper with a continuous trailing leaf design. Egyptian, circa 1900. Height 25cm x width 25cm x depth 1.5cm
