About the Item
A striking Japanese bronze flower vase (花器, kaki), cast using the traditional chūdō (鋳銅) technique and showcasing the rare hon-yaki (本焼色) patina. This rich, swirling finish is achieved through a natural oxidation process developed over time and carefully guided by hand. The dynamic surface evokes natural landscapes in deep reds, browns, and smoky greys—each vase a unique result of firing and aging.
Made by Masaharu (正晴造), the piece bears his signature and comes with its original tomobako (共箱, signed wooden box) and a printed explanation of the hon-yaki technique. A superb example of postwar Japanese metal art suitable for both tea ceremony (sadō) and ikebana practice.
