About the Item

A gorgeous eight-panel (the screen folds in half instead of fourths due to hanging brackets on the back) Showa Period Japanese Byobu folding screen depicting a nature scene with a beautiful cherry blossom tree in full bloom.. The vibrant, rich colors, gold leaf, and beautiful hand-painted detail of the tree branches and cherry blossom flowers really makes this quite an attractive work. Quire frankly one of the most spectacular screens we have come across in some time. Notice the use of negative space and the design in which the tree branches disappear and reappear further along the composition. Signed (in black ink) and sealed (in red) by the artist. Likely from the mid to late Showa period (1926-1989). A beautiful, engaging, and very special work. Would be a great addition to any Japanese or Asian art/screen collection or make for an eye catching stand alone accent artwork in almost any setting whether used as a room divider or hung on the wall as a work of art. Approximate dimensions when fully extended: 37.25" high, 80" wide, .75" deep Approximate folded dimensions: 37.25" high, 40" wide, 1.5" deep.
