Japanese Asian Signed Large Four-Panel Byobu Screen Bamboo Cherry Blossoms Birds

About the Item

A gorgeous large/tall four-panel Japanese Byobu folding screen depicting a nature scene/landscape with playful yellow and orange birds frolicking in nature among the branches of a blossoming/blooming cherry tree and bamboo forest. The work is hand-painted on silk. The bold, vibrant, rich colors and beautiful hand-painted detail of the birds, tree branches, and blossoming flowers make this an attractive and special work. Signed in ink and sealed in red by the artist. Original decorative period brass hardware adds another wonderful touch. This engaging hand-painted screen is sure to stand out in almost any setting whether used as a room divider or mounted on the wall as a work of art. A beautiful and unique piece. Showa period (1926-1989) likely from the mid to later 1900s. Approximate dimensions when fully extended: 72" high, 71" wide, and .75" deep. Approximate folded dimensions: 72" high, 18" wide, 3" deep.

    In very good vintage condition with some light tiny paint spotting, small separation of art from brocade framing at the top of one panel, and mild wear consistent with age and use (please see photos). Beautiful and engaging overall.
