Japanese Buddhist Monk Signed Muryo-Doji Painting Praying Women and Calligraphy

About the Item

A beautiful Japanese hand-painted brush Muryo-Doji Buddhist painting (likely sumi ink) on colored paper featuring three praying women and what appears to be kanji calligraphy - probably a Buddhist prayer. The work was created by Takagaki Kohei who is a Japanese monk. His work expresses forms of compassion taught by the Buddha. The piece is signed in black and sealed in red within the lower corner of the image. Kohei was born in 1935 in Kamihahatamachi Aisi, Gifu Prefecture. In 1985 he became a Shin Soul Otani Monk. He had his first solo art exhibition in 1986 in Seki City, Gifu Prefecture and has since followed this with eight individual exhibitions in Angeo, Nagoya City. Would be a great addition to any Japanese or Asian/Buddhist art collection or make for an aye catching stand alone accent artwork in about any setting. The piece is framed and ready to hang.
